Niacin

Niacin deficiency can lead to a host of health issues. Niacin depression, for instance, seems to be a relatively widespread health issue. Niacin deficiency is thought to cause depression because B3 deficiency inhibits the production of hormones that can stress the body.

However, niacin can’t necessarily be directly attributed to most nutrition-related depression. Depression can result from a wide variety of things including life circumstances, traumatic events, and various nutrient deficiencies.

The best course of action for nutrition-related depression is simply to eat healthier in general, but you can try supplementing niacin to see if the problem subsides substantially. If not, it’s probably another deficiency.
